U15 Football League Div 3 Final

The Under 15 Football League Division 3 final took place on Wednesday, June 21st, at the prestigious Ballinlough GFC grounds between old rivals Moynalty and Clann na nGael. A huge thanks to Ballinlough GFC for hosting the game on a glorious evening and maintaining the grounds in immaculate condition. Moynalty, led by coaches Mattie Bennett, Joey Curley, and Paddy Byrne, started the league in Division 3 with only 16 players available. Despite occasional absences in some group games, they persevered and performed well, even against bigger named clubs. They reached the final to face a strong Clann na nGael side. Clann na nGael opened the scoring with a point, but Moynalty quickly equalized with a point from Bobby Jackson. Moynalty then went on to score four consecutive points, establishing a favourable lead. Clann na nGael tried to mount a comeback, but Moynalty continued to dominate the first half and added three more points. Just before halftime, Clann na nGael managed to score two points. The halftime score was Moynalty 0:08, Clann na nGael 0:03. In the second half, Clann na nGael struck back with a goal, reducing the deficit to two points. Aaron Lynch scored a free for Moynalty, but Clann na nGael responded with two goals, putting them three points ahead for the first time in the match. Moynalty showed great resilience when Shane Bennett caught a ball in midfield and swiftly passed it to Eoin Gilsenan, who scored Moynalty's first goal, levelling the match. From that point on, Moynalty maintained control and prevented Clann na nGael from advancing down the pitch. They scored seven consecutive points, making it difficult for Clann na nGael to stage a comeback. Moynalty added two more goals, one from Eoin Gilsenan and another from Aaron Lynch. Clann na nGael managed to score two consolation points, but Lynch sealed the victory for Moynalty with a free kick. It was a great team performance from the future young guns of Moynalty GFC. The final score was Moynalty 3:17, Clann na nGael 3:05. This win secured the Jim Meade cup for Moynalty. There were good performances from the two Cassidy brothers, David Daly, Shane Bennett, Eoin Gilsenan and Bobby Jackson.
