The match between Moynalty and Summerhill in round 7 of the A League was played on a glorious Thursday evening in Summerhill who had the pitch in immaculate condition.
Moynalty got off to a flying start, scoring 1 goal and 1 point in just over a minute. The goal was scored by Paul Lynch, who reacted quickest when the ball hit the crossbar, and Pauric O'Connor added a point. Moynalty also had a 45, but they missed the opportunity. Summerhill managed to get one point on the board.
The next score came from Pauric O'Connor, who showcased his skills by weaving in and out between a few Summerhill players and scoring a great point. The visitors continued their strong performance and scored 1 goal and 4 points in succession. However, the home side managed to add 5 points in a row just before half time. The last point before the break was scored by Paddy Byrne, who linked up well with Paul Lynch through quick one-twos before slotting it over the bar. The half-time score was Moynalty 2-07, Summerhill 0-07.
The second half started with Summerhill scoring a point from the throw-in, but Pauric O'Connor quickly canceled it out with another point for Moynalty. Summerhill added another point, and then the home side scored a goal. A long ball from Summerhill was knocked down, and one of their players managed to strike the ball into the net, reducing Moynalty's lead to just 2 points and bringing the home side right back into the game.
However, Moynalty responded strongly. From the kickout, they broke forward and scored their third goal of the game through Ollie Sheridan, restoring a 5-point lead. Summerhill managed to get another goal, narrowing the deficit to just 2 points. Before anyone knew it, the game was level as Summerhill scored another point.
With the sides level and Moynalty losing a 10-point lead, it was Kian Lynch who stepped up and scored the next two points to put Moynalty back in front. Once again, the Summerhill forwards broke through Moynalty's defence and scored three points of their own, bringing the sides level once again. In the dying minutes, both teams traded points, and the match ended in a draw, with each team earning one point.
