Tommy Dowd Oil Football A League Div 3A
Kilmainham was the venue for the meeting of Moynalty and Wolfe Tones in this A League round 2 refixed match. After racing into a six point lead Wolfe Tones quickly clawed back the deficit when they scored a goal at their first real pursuit at goal. What was once a good lead for Moynalty turned into a 1 point game when the Tones then hit 2 points without reply. You would expect nothing more from the Gibbstown outfit who have one of the finest senior teams in the county. All of this reawakened Moynalty who reclaimed their lead when they hit 5 points to the Tones 3. Half Time Score: Moynalty 0:11 Wolfe Tones 1:05 Early in the second half Moynalty got 2 vital scores in a goal and a point to go 7 points up. Another bout of pressure came again from the Tones who managed to split the posts twice. James Cassidy the hit his 6th point of the game to keep day light between the sides. Heading into the home straight the Tones grabbed their own major and a point to boot. With Moynalty adding 3 more points in the closing stages this was a vital 2 points on the board for our men.
