Junior Football Championship Group A Round 3
Moynalty 0:13
Dunsany 4:07
Moynalty travelled to Athboy to take on Dunsany in this must win match in the third round of the Junior Championship. Moynalty got the perfect start and went two points to no score ahead with a point each from James Cassidy and Bryan Mc Cormack. Dunsany got three of their own then before Paul Lynch levelled things up after 20 mins. Moynalty were dealt a huge blow to the plans when Niall O' Connor received a red card. Dunsany then scored 2-02 to Moynalty’s 0-02 points to leave the half time score reading. Moynalty 0:05, Dunsany 2:05. Dunsany started where the 2nd half off where they left off with a point in the first minute. The next 20 mins was all Moynalty as they started to peg back the scores, kicking 6 on the trot, one of which was a fantastic effort from Ollie Sheridan off his left foot, which left a point between the sides. Moynalty had 2 great chances for goals, one been a penalty - both of which we failed to take which left the nails well and truly bitten. It was Dunsany then who broke away and ended up getting the goal, extending their lead to four. Paul Lynch then got Moynalty's last two scores with Dunsany adding a further 1-01, with the goal from the penalty spot. This was the difference, Dunsany been much more clinical for the 3 pointers when the chances came. Moynalty will feel this was a game that could have been won, maybe like the two before them in the group. But feeling it and winning it are different things. This leaves us with a monumental battle to stay Junior A with only one group game remaining. The effort of our lads on the day itself cannot be questioned. Moynalty had good performances from James Cassidy, Bryan McCormack and Ronan McMahon. But our man of the match for the day was Pauric O’Connor for his excellent work in midfield.
