Junior Football Championship '22 Group A Round 1 Moynaltyv Syddan

Moynalty 0:12

Syddan 1:14

The match started with both clubs trading pionts and settling nerves.

Kian Lynch then hit his first of the day which put Moynalty ahead by one. Syddan then hit a crucial blow after this, cutting through the Moynalty defence and hitting the back of the net for what turned out to be the only goal of the game - and a cruical one.

After some fine scoring from Syddan, Moynalty then got four of their own, tow from the hard to handle Kian, one from Paul Lynch and a fine score from Cormac Kearney.

Half time read Moynalty 0:07, Syddan 1:06.

For the second half it was the men in green and gold who added to their lead kicking four points without reply and leaving our boys with a lot of work to do. Two points then from Bryan Mc Cormack and another from Kian got Moynalty within that single goal agian.

With time running out and after another score from the impressive Paul Lynch, Moynalty went route one, angling the ball high into the danger zone in the hope for a much-needed break. Despite the effort, it just never came our way.

Syddan deservedly took all 2 points but with our lads surely thinking we could have taken something from the game.

Special mention to Ronan Mc Mahon, Richie & Joey Gilsenan, Bryan Mc Cormack, and the ever-dangerous Kian Lynch.

Our man of the match thought was undoubtedly, Paul Lynch. His 4-point haul only tells half the story. There was possibly not a blade of grass untouched in Nobber by the Moynalty half forward. His ability to get down the field to aid his defence, to then get back up the pitch to be involved in all the important plays at the other end was exemplarily .
