Moynalty welcomed neighbours Kilmainhamwood for the first round of the Tailteann Cup. The game was only on five minutes when referee Martin Dawson awarded Kilmainhamwood a penalty, which they converted. 2 minutes later Bryan Mc Cormack equalised with a goal for Moynalty in the 7 minute, a minute later Bryan got a point to put Moynalty ahead by 1. Kilmainhamwood got the next four points without reply in the 10,11,20,22nd minute to leave them three ahead. Moynalty got three points of their own 1 from Ronan Lynch and 2 from Paul Lynch in the 23rd,28th,and 29th minute to leave the sides level 1:04 a piece. Just on the stroke of half time Kilmainhamwood got a point to put their noses in front at the break.
Moynalty started the second half with two points 1 each for Paul Lynch and Bryan Mc Cormack in the 32nd and 37th minute to take the lead once again. With each side trading points Kilmainhamwood got two points and with Moynalty's Paul Lynch scoring a classic point from the sideline in the 43rd minute. Moynalty went on to score two unanswered points in the 48th and 53rd minute from frees taking by Paul Lynch. Bryan Mc Cormack scored Moynalty's last point in the 56th minute, while Kilmainhamwood never gave up and scored two points to leave just the minimum between the sides at full time, it was the home side that came out with the win.
