Pat Cussen RIP 09th Dec 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Honorary Club President Pat Cussen.

Pat was a true Gael and a lifelong supporter of all Meath teams but Moynalty GFC was always closest to his heart.

Pat won a minor championship with a north Meath selection in 1958 and went on to play with distinction with Moynalty afterwards. When his playing days were coming to an end he took an administrative role with the club. He served in many roles from Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and for many years as the club county board delegate. Indeed, many’s the heated discussion took place at a county board meeting when Pat was putting his point across. Pat was an established referee and took charge of many important games. He also served as manager and selector with various teams from underage up to adult. Last year he attended his 60th Moynalty GFC AGM.

Pat was a great supporter of the SCÓR competition and won county titles in debating competitions.

In later years, even as his health deteriorated, he always supported his beloved Moynalty from the sidelines and he got great satisfaction from seeing his grandchildren don the red jersey of Moynalty.

Pat will be sadly missed by his fellow Gaels from the club.

Pat was pre-deceased by his wife Marion and will be greatly missed by Patrick, Bernard, Marie, Helen & Olivia and their families.
